In February and March 2008 two of my pieces were included in the regional juried exhibit "Interpretations of the figure" at the University of Indianapolis. In the recent past I have also shown work at Sinclair Community College [award winners], Riverbend Art Center, the Ohio Art League, the Dayton Visual Arts Center [award winner - twice], the Dayton Society of Painters and Sculptors juried member exhibit, the Cannery, Arts Interface, and the Winds Cafe.
It is important to me that I enjoy working on a piece, producing a work of art should be fun. In each work I strive to create a figure that is alive. I take great pleasure in working when I feel I am achieving this goal. It is also important to me that the work is a "portrait" of the model.
Local/regional artists who have significantly influenced aspects of my work include: Curtis Barnes, Mark Echtner, Terry Hitt, Jack Mann, Lee Miller, Patrick Mauk, Gerald Page, Georgia Papadakis, Eliana Saari, Sandi Sharp, and Kim Vito. Influences from further away include Richard Deibenkorn, Jim Dine, Henri Matisse, Philip Pearlstein, Man Ray, Egon Schiele, and Euan Uglow.
